The Ubuhlebezwe Municipality (KZ5a5) is a Category B municipality, situated within the Harry Gwala District Municipality (DC43), in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. The Municipalities main economic sectors are agriculture, tourism, and business.

Ubuhlebezwe, translated from isiZulu, means “The Beauty of the Land” – it is a place with beautiful scenery varying from rolling hills, green trees, wetlands as well as grasslands, and thornveld.

ABOUT THE UBUHLEBEZWE MUNICIPALITY BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

The Ubuhlebezwe Municipality is inviting students residing within the Municipality area, to apply for bursary funding for the 2024 academic year. The Municipality will provide Financial Assistance for studies within these fields:

  • Accounting
  • Agriculture
  • Civil Engineering
  • Finance Management
  • Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
  • Town Planning

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE UBUHLEBEZWE MUNICIPALITY BURSARY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must reside within the jurisdiction of Ubuhlebezwe Municipality area, in KwaZulu-Natal
  • You must have completed Matric
  • You must be studying within one of the fields listed above, in the 2024 academic year
  • You must be registered to study at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
  • Preference will be given to students pursuing studies towards Municipal Priority Skills

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):

  • ID document or smart ID card (certified copy)
  • Matric Certificate (certified copy)
  • Official statement of results and official proof of bachelor’s/ diploma certificate (matric exemption) if it is required for your course (certified copy)
  • Official study record with marks, symbols, percentages achieved in all exams (including the matric examination) (certified copy)
  • Proof of registration from institution, for 2024 academic year
  • Admission requirements from institution for your course, if you have been accepted (copy only)
  • Curriculum (stating the number of years of study, number of modules/subjects to be taken) from institution, for your course (copy only)
  • Study plan detailing how your course will be completed over the specific bursary period
  • List of tuition fees required from institution and their banking details
  • Motivational letter stating why you deserve to be awarded a bursary and an outline of your personal circumstances
  • Parents or guardians proof of income (statement or latest payslips if employed, affidavit if unemployed, originally certified death certificates if deceased)
