The Irish Aid Kader Asmal Scholarship was created in the honour of late Professor Kader Asmal, who taught law and specialised in labour; human rights and international law at Trinity College Dublin for 27 years. Professor Asmal also co-founded the Irish Anti-Apartheid Movement and was part of the ANC team who negotiated the transition to democracy.
ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED & COVERAGE VALUE
The Kader Asmal Fellowship Programme will be awarding scholarships for Postgraduate students to study in Ireland. The fully-funded scholarship will cover 1-year master’s level programme at a higher education institution in Ireland.
Scholarships will be awarded to students within the following fields of study:

The scholarship will cover the following expenses: university application fees, tuition fees, examination fees, accommodation, student visitor visa, return flight (economy class) to Ireland and back home, study allowance, book allowance, monthly living allowance and a settling in allowance.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- South African resident national
- Have a minimum of 2 years relevant working experience (can include internships and volunteering)
- Have an honours’ level academic quealification, with a minimum overall average of 75% (First class honour, or second class honour)
- Have NOT completed a Master’s degree
- Intend of studying full-time towards a postgraduate programme in one of the aforementioned fields of study
- Wish to take up the fellowship programme in the 2021/2024 academic year
- Have NOT previously applied for the Kader Asmal Fellowship Programme
