Guvon Academy is a member of the Guvon Hotels and Spas Group, and is Accredited as a Skills Development Provider (SDP), providing study programmes that cover knowledge, practical and work-based learning required by industry. HOT 102.7 FM is the latest commercial radio station in Johannesburg, which broadcasts to the greater Johannesburg area and beyond. The radio stations main shows include: Joburg’s Hottest Breakfast, The Mark Pilgrim Show, Afternoons with Ursula, The Big Joburg Drive, HOT 1027 Business, Club Classics and Easy Sundays.
HOT 102.7 FM is made up of a team of passionate radio staff, who love sharing their passion for radio and music with their listeners. Listeners can tune in on their radio or via online live streaming and on their website.
ABOUT THE GUVON ACADEMY BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED
The Guvon Academy, partnered with HOT 102.7FM, is inviting passionate culinary arts students, to apply for their bursary programme for the 2024 academic year.
The bursary will be awarded for professional chef training at Guvon Academy, for a 3 year programme (read more about the chef qualification at Guvon Academy here).
The bursary, valued at R350 000, will provide cover for the following expenses: textbooks, knife set, chef uniform and workplace experience within the Guvon Hotels & Spas group. Bursary recipients will also receive an international award from Highfield Qualifications in the UK!
MORE ABOUT THE GUVON ACADEMY BURSARY PROGRAMME – SELECTION
- Successful bursary recipients will be announced on 7 February 2024, on HOT 102.7FM’s Breakfast Show (between 06:00 and 09:00).
- Selected candidates will be required to accept the award within 48 hours – if the candidate does not respond, cannot be reached, is found to be ineligible to accept the award or contravenes the terms and conditions of the bursary, they will forfeit the award and a new candidate will be selected.
- The final decision will be made by the Bursary Sponsor (Guvon Academy), and no negotiations will be entered into.
- Selected candidates may be required to submit additional documentation, for verification purposes, including: ID document, contact information and proof of address.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE GUVON ACADEMY BURSARY
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- You must have completed Matric
- You must be passionate about culinary arts and intend on pursuing a career as a professional chef
- You must be willing to study towards the 3 year Occupational Certificate: Chef (SAQA ID 101697), at Guvon Academy in Johannesburg
- You must be willing to complete integrated learning in hotels (shift work) and must have your own transport or means to travel to work (i.e. not public transport)
- You must NOT be an employee, independent contractor (including any presenter), or an immediate family member of anyone employed by the Station (HOT 1027FM), Charity (Hot Cares NPC) or Bursary Sponsor (Guvon Academy)
