The Centre for Proteomic and Genomic Research (CPGR) is a non-profit organisation, formed in 2006 and located in Cape Town, South Africa.

The CPGR was formed from an initiative by the South African Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) and financially supported by the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA).

ABOUT THE CPGR BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

The Centre for Proteomic and Genomic Research (CPGR), is inviting students to apply for bursary funding, for the 2024 academic year.

The bursary is available for Postgraduate degree studies (BTech, BSc Hons, MSc, PhD) in these fields:

  • Bioinformatics
  • Biological Science
  • Biotechnology
  • Genetics/ Human Genetics
  • Medical Biochemistry
  • Medical Bioscience
  • Microbiology/ Biochemistry
  • Molecular/ Cell Biology

MORE ABOUT THE CPGR BURSARY PROGRAMME – COVERAGE VALUE & SERVICE CONTRACT

The bursary will provide full or partial cover for the following expenses: registration fees, tuition fees and prescribed materials.

The bursary will cover students for the entire duration of the registered degree programme, on condition that the bursary recipient passes all registered subjects and abides by the rules of the CPGR bursary contract.

After graduation, students will be required to work for CPGR – 1 year of service obligation for each year of funding received.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CPGR BURSARY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must be between 18 and 29 years old
  • You must have completed an undergraduate qualification
  • You must be studying or intend on studying towards a postgraduate degree qualification in one of the fields above, in 2024
  • You must be studying or intend on studying at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution, in South Africa
  • Students with disabilities are welcome to apply

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE CPGR BURSARY

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your online application (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Highest qualification statement of results to date ((Undergraduate, Honours or Masters) (certified copy)
  • Proof of your address (certified copy)
  • Proof of disability, if applicable (certified copy)
