The University of London was first established in 1836 by the Royal Charter for the benefit of the public. Over time, the University has offered students a wide range of academic opportunities that are easily accessible.
The University of London is a leader in education and was the first to admit students, regardless of their gender, religion, or race. In 1985, the University was also the first to give students the opportunity to study wherever they are- this provided access to higher education all over the world.

The trust was established by Canon John Collins, who was famous for social movements such as Christian Action, Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, and the British Anti-Apartheid Movement.
