KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport Bursary South Africa 2024

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport, established in 1994, aims to provide a safe, accessible and regulated road transportation system for its residents.

The Department is responsible for managing the provinces transportation system, as well as: implementing Road Safety Campaigns and Awareness Programmes; constructing, repairing and maintaining the provincial road network; regulating traffic; registering and licensing drivers and vehicles; managing and controlling public and freight transport operations, as well as provincial vehicle fleet.

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport will be awarding bursaries within the following fields of study:

  • Civil Engineering (BSc)
  • Transportation Economics (National Diploma)
  • Transportation Management (Diploma)
  • Logistics Management (Diploma)

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • South African citizen
  • Between 18 and 35 years old
  • Reside within the KwaZulu-Natal province
  • Currently in Matric OR have completed Matric
  • Studying or intend on studying within one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • Accepted/ provisionally accepted to study OR have a CAO receipt
  • Good academic record
  • From a previously disadvantaged background/ vulnerable group

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE BURSARY

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Grade 11 report, if currently in Matric (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate, if completed Matric (certified copy)
  • Full academic record, if currently studying (certified copy)
  • Proof of acceptance or registration from a tertiary institution
  • Degree/ diploma syllabus from the tertiary institution (including number of modules and number of years of study)
  • Outline of tuition fees from the tertiary institution
  • Parents/ guardians ID documents (certified copies)
  • Parents/ guardians death certificate if deceased (certified copies)
  • Parents/ guardians proof of income/ affidavit or proof of unemployment from Department of Labour
  • Parents/ guardians income and expense statement
  • Motivational letter about why you deserve to be awarded a bursary
